  1. Haven’t even watched yet, but the title made me laugh so hard! Yes! I think my avocado green linoleum floors are outdated, but I can’t afford to fix that right now and it doesn’t bother me at all. I feel that the charm and appeal in my home comes from the comfort it brings my family and from the hospitality and openness it provides.

    1. Tabi Littlefield,

      I couldn’t agree more. 👍

      I *like* green linoleum flooring.😊
Green evokes nature, and linoleum has many *great* benefits:

It’s quiet, affordable, durable, versatile, eco-friendly, easy to fix and maintain,
      anti-bacterial, stain-resistant, and waterproof.

Yes, the true charm of a home lies in it’s “openness, comfort and hospitality”,
qualities one does *not* find in a house that’s merely a trendy showpiece.

Now all you need is a bowl of avocados on the kitchen table. 🥑😉

  2. *36:51** Let’s just take a minute to appreciate how much time and work she put into these videos?*
*It’s unbelievable, and I think they deserve a lot more than that*

  3. I don’t follow “trends” with a home. I make my home the way I like it and go against the grain some, but not intentionally. I personally don’t like when everyone has the same look to a home. For example, I prefer a cozy with a bit of an eclectic bohemian feel, but done in a nice professional way. I guess what I mean is I don’t follow the rules. I do what I like and what feels warm and homey for myself.

I suggest (generally speaking) finding your own style of décor that suits you and what you truly like instead of trying to keep up with the latest thing just because everyone else is doing it. Just my thoughts. You made the comment about the canvas art you showed and you thought it was pretty, that is what I mean. Don’t get rid of it just because a style may not be in style overall anymore. Do you and what makes you happy! That’s all that’s important. Thanks for sharing Shea!

I wanted to add that up to date ceiling fans are nice to have here in this part of Texas where I’m located, because it’s extremely hot most of the year. Again, another good example to try not to worry too much about these things and do what is right for you and your lifestyle.

  4. I agree with the stairs! I have oak wood and been dying to do black it would look so good but I’ve been lazy lol also ceiling fans are so ugly but I need fan in my room lol and living room. I want to upgrade them like the one have. I think it’s cuter

  5. Oh man…so many things I would do to my house if I had the money! Base boards, paint (especially our bathroom), flooring, ceiling fans AND light fixtures…I could go on forever! 😆

  6. We recently moved to FL & I loathed ceiling fans & didn’t want any at first but we moved in the Summer and I asked for ceiling fans. We’re getting the more modern styled ones (not the lights jutting out lol) & most people have them out here so I don’t care. They help keep a house cooler

  7. We just had a house built. I did Sherwin Williams Pure White throughout and love it! So clean, not too bright and uplifting. I never even considered grey walls. I did NOT do ceiling fans either. I did thick white trim baseboards and around doors. Did Honeycomb shades throughout for warmth.

  8. Love ceiling fans. They make so much sense to keep a room cooler. Another home thing that I think is, or should be, out is all the wall art with words and cutesy sayings like “Family, Faith, Friends!” When it is everywhere at certain home décor stores, you know it is out.

  9. My house also has greige walls, when we built our house 5 years ago, those colors were very popular, we painted our entire house Sherwin Williams Agreeable gray. Even though white walls are in now, I still prefer the greige color, it matches any color furniture and decor.

  10. I think it’s funny that something like ceiling fans are an actual “issue” lol. They actually serve a great purpose especially for these times when people may not have or want to use their air conditioning to save money. Keep your fans, own the look!🤣

  11. I just want to say that I love you Shea and your opinions. I worked at an Art Museum in college. Saw some of the finest works of art but sometimes even the mass produced is pretty. I hope to visit Paris one day and if you don’t want your mass produced print, I will gladly take it. I found one recently of a rainy day in Paris for one dollar.. canvas and all. Love it. Like I said, no offense. Love your videos ❤️

  12. I love ceiling fans. I agree, they can look dated so quickly, so updating them helps. For bedrooms, I prefer function over beauty. I understand if people don’t want them in “public” spaces in their house, but I need airflow when I sleep.

  13. The canvas wall art you have Shea can be easily painted over to your own design, that’s probably one of the easiest things to change up in your home and less expensive, just slap on some paint over the original design, as for ceiling fans, I hate them in living areas especially when you have air conditioning, in a bedroom I think it’s much better because as a woman you need that extra air flow Lol 😂, I’m about to replace the one I have in my sitting room that no one uses and our air conditioner is sitting right there above the window, the fan has never been turned on 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️, it’s finding a lovely light to replace it that’s my problem, I agree with all you mentioned, I’m a minimalist and those heavy curtains OMGOSH, look horrible and I can’t imagine trying to clean them. Great video as always. Cheers from Queensland Australia 🇦🇺💖💖

  14. First off, I love your videos and all the time and effort you put into them. Second, I live in AZ and absolutely have to have ceiling fans. I have updated the one in my living room, and am going to do my office next. I am doing ones without light kits. Much better looking 😊

I loathe blinds and I agree with you about the heavy drapes and oak stairs,
but gray walls are *so* sophisticated; we use it throughout our home.
Gray is the neutral that’s always right. 👌

Gray is *elegant* and trumps “in style” any day. 😎
