6 NEW Fashion Trends To Love Now | How To Style
While trends come and go, there's a select bunch that have real staying power. More and more I'm seeing pieces from past decades sneaking their way into designer collections and my Instagram feed. Fortunately, vintage and vintage-inspired clothing seem to be the real focus of the year, with both sartorial and sustainable trends moving in the same direction. That's why I've decided to round up my top six vintage trends for 2021 so you can get to hunting or grab a modern, updated version if you prefer.

  1. Mōrena Leone, is there a way to wear retro trainers/tennies with a skirt/dress in winter with tights???Or just go bare legs in the cold? My latest thrift win is a men’s blazer with satin lapel harnessing Halston’s Le Smoking 🙂 Perfect with jeans!

    1. Morena Chrissen – I’ve been wearing my trainers with bare legs lately but that’s just because I get a bit hot and I wear maxi skirts so you don’t see much bare leg. But I think they still look great worn with tights – so either way really!

  2. I Agee with the previous watcher’s comments about large prints. A women who is 5’5” or less and weighs less than 145 lbs. cannot successfully wear a large print. The print ends up wearing her. In other words, when she walks into a room, the first thing one notices is the print, not the woman. What should be noticed is the women with the secondary thought, nice outfit. I know, I am 5 feet 4 1/2 inches. I used to be quite obese and could wear large prints successfully. Now I weigh 135 lbs and cannot.

  3. Prairie dresses are cottagecore aesthetic in lingo haha it’s a whole phenomenon since 2020 but coming and going since probably mid 16th century.

  4. I loved prairie dresses when I was a girl in the 70s, but have no desire to wear them now, I want more sophisticated styles, I’m 61.

  5. I am a very “young” 75 and I love the look of sneakers with midi skirts, cropped trousers, etc. I never really liked wearing them with jeans, unless they are the white leather ones. Leonie, do you feel that all the white leather ones are still in style? And can they be worn when the weather gets cooler? Where I live, it’s actually too hot in the summer to wear anything but sandals!

  6. I made my two daughters Holly Hobbie prairie dresses in 1976 when they were 4 and 9 yrs. old! They were all the rage in the U.S. and the dresses were very “prairie” inspired.

  7. Prints are really in right now and what was old is new again. Pieces I wore in the 70s I see absolutely everywhere. I’m not repeating this one.😖
Edit: The cashmere sweater on your IG reel was gorgeous!

  8. I’ve heard the term cottage core lately, think that’s a bit like the prairie trend if not the same? But this video definitely turned me on to vintage sneakers!! I need a pair immediately! 😆👟👟

  9. I have some retro sneakers…never stopped wearing them! ha ha. Only on walks and runs..never as a fashion statement. My converse are the opposite…only for fashion. I have a great silk scarf collection, all but one, thrifted. It is a bit hot here for a scarf around the neck, but on a bag or in your hair. I must get them out. Thanks for the reminder!!

  10. Prairie style is also known as cottage core. I love it. I wore it in the late seventies when Gunne Sax/ Jessica McClintock was so popular. I love the silk scarves trend also, I thrifted a number of expensive silk scarves 10+ years ago and have been hanging on to them. Time to bring them out, yay 😁😊

  11. Luv dresses, any kind and currently like the prairie/ grandma florals as I’ve bought 4 new pieces to wear With sandals and wfh environment.

  12. I literally just looked at scarves in my fav thrifting place and wondering if I should get any 😀 For the vests/cottage core/summery prints trends, they aren’t for me coz we don’t have much summer in the UK (and I am from a sub-tropical country so I always feel cold in the UK lol). May I add one more item to thrift? Rain boots! I have been looking for nice ones that look more sophisticated and stylish. Unfortunately so far most I could find will make me look like the cute Paddinton Bear.

  13. Prairie dresses: not for me! You’re right, in the 80s there was the whole Laura Ashley trend, with plenty of flowery, prairie-style dresses. I can’t believe they’re back, but hey, maybe young women love them. Don’t be too jealous for our summer, in my corner of France, it has not really started yet. I might unearth my old silk scarves at some point, I have a beauty from Hermes that I’ve hardly worn in 30 years, so it definitely qualifies as vintage 😉

  14. The best trend, prairie dresses and trainers, both comfy and sooo cool.No one should give a thumbs down, if they don;t like they should just leave…lets be kind to one another.🥰
