šŸ”“ Although I have over 1000 videos on skincare and acne I realized sometimes it's still hard for people to remember which acne products I recommend, vs those that I think are a waste of money! I decided to create this helpful skincare list of breakout and other skin products that are acne-safe, that I personally recommend and put them all in one place! I hope you find this helpful- enjoy! 1. Alyssa you are so sweet and this comment means so much to me!! As someone who has struggled in many lecturers as well, knowing hat I might be able to help some understand a new concept that they can understand and apply to their life truly makes my heart sing. Thank you for voicing your appreciation, and moreover thank you for taking the time to educate yourself and get inspired! Xoxo

  1. I’m so glad you made this video! I was in target looking for vitamins for my hair/skin/overall wellness andddd was so lost. Thank you for this!

  2. I love your videos, this one was supremely helpful! I’m 23 and still struggling with acne. I quit dairy and have significantly reduced my sugar and alcohol intake. It’s helped a bunch but I still get breakouts, which is very frustrating. I want to try the Murad one, altho similar to other people, I know that biotin and L-lysine made me break out. Perhaps the combo of all the vitamins in murad’s pill will reduce that likelihood?

  3. Hi Cassandra! Thank you so much for making this video, thanks to you I learn so many new things & I’m so grateful for that so thank you! I have a question though: I suffer from a condition called ‘familial hypercholesterolemia’ and have to take red rice and fish oil supplements (the only alternative are statins which absolutely ruined my gut & gave me short term memory loss…), do you think the substitute for fish oil you mentioned here works for lowering cholesterol as well? I know you’re not a doctor, but maybe you might know this. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos, they help a lot! xx

  4. Thank you so much for this from the bottom of my heart. I hope you continue to share similar videos.. I love the insight and explanation behind everything. I’m so tired of everyone recommending supplements and sharing what they take and not really giving extensive info on why and how it helps! These things are expensive and I’m sure we all would like to feel justified in spending our money on these supplements and vitamins. Would love to see a breakdown of collagen vs gelatine and how they help our skin and maybe product recommendation? Thank you, love šŸ„°šŸ’—

  5. Here’s my experience on supplements: Vitamin E makes me break out. Omega 3,6 & 9 when taken in one pill made my body reject real fish. I couldn’t be in the same room when seafood was being served. I only take Chorophyll now. What’s your take on Chlorophyll, Cassandra?

  6. Hi Cassandra, I’ve struggled with acne since I was 11 (I went on Accutane when I was in 8th grade… yikes!!!). I’m 21 now and obviously my acne has come back in different strides/phases but it was the absolute worst when I had my copper IUD in, which seems weird since it’s non-hormonal; however, I’d argue that anything that goes in the reproductive system for long periods of time can affect hormones if you’re sensitive like me. After I got it out it has improved dramatically. With that being said, I’m still struggling with my skin. My random question to you is: Could trimming peach fuzz be the root of my clogged pores/whiteheads? I’ve been trimming it for yeaaaars since my peach fuzz is long/thick but it seems like now, whenever I do it, it breaks out in a bunch of little whiteheads and regular pimples as it grows back in. Do you know what the science is behind this? I’m going to stop doing it to test if it’s what’s causing my acne. Thanks in advance!!

  7. I deal with hormonal acne (that is inactive at the moment THANKFULLY) and I started b12 supplement when I went vegan. To be more specific I take brewer’s yeast supplement with b12 in it. It has done WONDERS for my skin! I take one tablet before my meals to control insulin levels (that seem to play a significant role to hormonal acne) and never experienced breakouts caused from this specific supplement. It actually helps with my hormonal breakouts A LOT and I realized that when I didn’t take it for a week or so my acne got worse!

  8. Hey I love your videos! I’m a vegan and I have had to take b12 for the last few years. I’ve heard it makes people break out and that has definitely been the case for me. I know I have to take it but I hate how it makes my skin break out

  9. You are awesome ! Over the last 5 months my hormonal acne has gone from a 3 to a 7 (scale of 10) I have never had issues with my skin before this and am trying to learn as much as possible. Love your science passion! I have just started trying to solve the problem as these wee spots (Scottish BTW) are not budging. Your videos are really interesting and inspiring! I have started using evening primrose, DIM & a basic vitamin B complex. Do you think that I should buy specific vitamin B supplements? I have heard Vitamin B6 is also helpful. x

  10. Hey Cassandra, I hope you can reply my question. I came across a paper that stated B12 can actually cause acne. What are your thoughts? I just started taking a vitamin b complex supplement in the hope it will reduce my cystic acne. But this paper has once again placed me in a state of worry and concern. A reply will be highly appreciated.

  11. I recently started taking the MyKind Organics Prenatal multivitamins even though I’m not pregnant I’d heard people take them and they make them “feel better “… I think they’ve been helping my energy and nail growth. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

  12. As an esthetician always looking to add to my science based skincare knowledge, I love your videos! As a senior (I’ve been a licensed esthetician since 1979) I would love to see more on anti-aging skincare science. Do you have any info on stem cell media derived growth factors, peptides and cytokines?

    1. Elizabeth have you tried anything with stem cells since you wrote this? I’ve always been interested. They’re very expensive products but might be worth it. I did use one once and I liked it.

  13. Cassadra, as a nutritionist, I applaud you on a very informative, and scientifically correct video. You can imagine that I see so many things that make me cringe, but this was an excellent video. FYI, the reason your father may have been deficient in B12 is because he is older and does not have as much stomach acid, which is needed to make and/or process B12. Nonetheless, good job on getting him on B12!!

  14. This video was super helpful!! I went to my Dr. today to get some blood testing done. I advocated for myself and asked to include the B12 test (my Dr. already selected an iron test). Thanks for informing me that meat eaters can also potentially be deficient in B12.

  15. Great Video. You explained this topic really well. As a qualified Nutritionist, I completely agree with the information you shared in this video.

  16. Hi, Cassandra. I’m a little late to this video party. I’ve been binging on your videos for several weeks. I take the exact same Buckthorn as you! I am not a huge fan of fish and I found it to be a great alternative. Also, my doctor said it could have benefits for diabetics. (I’m T2)

Magnesium. This one is because my doctor said I needed it. šŸ™‚

Because I am on a T2 medication (Metformin) it is notorious for depleting B-12 from our system. I also take that.

Last but not least, especially in the winter, is D3. I live in the UK and winters are long and very dark.

Love your videos! Thanks for the amazing information.
