    3. @mylie moore Great idea! Same here, & I was wondering too. I remember her saying that her dentist is a holistic/natural/vegan/etc. dentist, & I was curious about that, as I was a CDA II (certified dental assistant) for 8.5 years. I’m sooooo curious about the differences, which must be drastic because general dentistry involves a plethora of chemicals & substances that wouldn’t be considered “natural”, but I personally feel are mostly safe & effective. However, I am ALL for decreasing exposure to, & use of, any even POSSIBLY harmful dental products!

  2. It’s so nice to start fresh and clean up the junk! I use samples for backpacking and I’ve also bagged them up and taken to women’s shelters.

    3. That’s the best way to donate! Don’t give to the goodwill! They profit and place’s like the women’s shelter really help those in need 🙏🏻✝️

One thing I did recently because my kids are so attached to their toys and memories, I picked out toys I thought they’d be OK parting with when they weren’t looking (decreases distraction), and then brought those toys to them asking for permission to donate or make sure they are OK parting with them….. so still giving them control, but can help if a child gets anxiety when trying to choose which toys to purge. Hope that makes sense.

  9. I always made my daughter go through her toys before Christmas and clean out what she didn’t play with ti donate to kids who didn’t have a lot of toys. She always gladly shared older items that were still good, but she just didn’t play with.

  11. It’s funny that you mentioned how you used to go through your kid’s room and get rid of stuff. I did the same. But, in 2013, when my youngest son was 6, I heard of a clutter challenge by Money Saving Mom. Have your kids go through their own rooms and pay them $.25 for everything that they don’t play need or want. Then, it’s their idea that they are decluttering. Uh, huh…well, my son came downstairs with all of his church clothes. He threw them on the floor in a pile and told me that I owed him $16.00. 😂

  13. I totally recommend donating kid’s stuff they don’t want, even if it’s just a little thing. This past year, my mother-in-law posted some of her son’s old Halloween costumes for free in a local FB group, and a woman took them so her kids could dress up for Halloween for once. Literally made her day because she couldn’t afford to buy her kids costumes.

  14. I put all those samples in a basket for when we have house guests. They appreciate having face creams etc handy and it makes them feel very welcome.

    3. I do this too! After staying at a friend’s house and seeing her drawer in the guest bathroom of sample and travel items, I realized how helpful this is to guests who may forget to pack an item

  15. Great ideas! Thanks Shea. I will say this. I HOARD those beauty samples BUT I have them all organized in tray boxes in my bathroom closet. We travel a lot so I always use them. It’s just enough for a trip and then I toss it at the hotel when we leave. Waste not want not I guess. LOL The kitchen food container organization struggle is REAL!

  19. When my son was very young I would clean his room & get rid of stuff & he never even noticed. As he got old enough to know I started encouraging him to participate-to clean his room & trash stuff & donate to those in need. We as the parents set a good example with this-we declutter (trashing & donating) on a pretty regular basis & he struggled with this concept at first but has gotten much better about it as he has gotten older. He is 13 now & we told him just before Christmas to clean, trash, & donate & he did a great job with no issues or complaints.

  20. For the samples, I collect so many of them throughout the year that I can literally make little bags of free samples that I then take to the nearest women’s shelter for them to hand out to the women. The makeup samples go into category bags (lips, foundation, eyes, etc). Just a suggestion if you have a ton of samples you’re not going to use. 😊
